The Weekly Brief
traveling pants, being called wasteful and shoes I'm still dreaming about

This week, someone called me “wasteful” on the internet.
The comment came after I shared a reel about replacing a pair of pajamas. She felt I was encouraging unnecessary consumption and suggested that a few snags just meant they were well-loved.
And honestly, I get it. Social media rarely leaves room for nuance. A 30-second reel can’t tell the whole story. So I made another reel in response.
What meant the most to me was the response from friends, people in this community, and former styling clients who immediately reminded me of what they’ve seen over the years: thrifted finds, repeated outfits, intentional purchases, and lots of conversations about buying less and buying better.
One former mentor wrote, “You’re intentional, a good steward, concerned for beauty and truth.”
I share that not to defend myself or collect compliments, but because it captures the heart behind what I try to do here.
When I share a link, a recommendation, or something I love, it’s never meant to communicate that you need more stuff. My hope is always to encourage intentionality, beauty, and enjoyment of what serves you well.
You do not need new summer pajamas if the ones you own are still in great shape.
You do not need the serum everyone is raving about if you already have two full bottles sitting in your cabinet.
Intentional shopping isn’t about never buying anything. It’s about buying thoughtfully, caring for what you own, and replacing things when their useful life has come to an end.
If you’ve been here for a while, you already know that’s what this space is about. And that’s enough for me.
And for the record, the pajamas in question were almost ten years old.
I’d say they had a pretty good run.
If you missed The Saturday Stack this week, you didn’t. I simply didn’t have time to work on it. With Summer, I am finding it hard to work in the same rhythms I was before, so we’re renaming The Saturday Stack. Drum roll please, the weekly link round-up is now called The Weekly Brief. This way if the email does’t go out until Monday, that’s okay. ;)
And now, for the links:
1 Tried these on while I was in Atlanta and it was hard to walk away without them.
3 Trying this recipe today
4 In my quest to find high performing clean beauty, I’m going to try this next

I am actually pretty positive you are one of the most NON-wasteful humans I know, lol. I'm thinking about the way you wear the heck out of things, re-style what you already own, and upcycle pieces! Love love love the poplin PJ's!
